Realistic MPG in 300D's, 300SD's, 190 D's?

Looking to see what realistic fuel mileage is in these older diesels.

If you'd be willing, share what car(s) you have, miles on it, and what the average MPG's are.

I see so many outlandish claims on ads for these things that a little "reality check" would help as I search out another diesel ride.

my (grey) '87 300D sees on a regular basis 29-31 combined on a tank.

winter city drops to 24-26
highway MIGHT hit 31, so a combined, equaling that of my summer city consumption

150k miles

my '95 E300 Diesel sees about 3-4 miles to a gallon more all the way around
130 something

the blue '87 300D sees maybe 1 mpg less that i've noticed over the past month or so, but its pushing 200k

my little sisters 300D 2.5 with 205k sees the same as the first 300D

the 300SD i had, well... i didn't even go thru the first full tank :o

1976 300D OM617.910 about 23MPG on average.

My SDL and SD putting around at 65mph on road trips average high 20s. Depends on A/C, wind, temps, tire inflation, etc. But figure 26-29mpg (have hit 30mpg a few times). When I used to calculate city only I would obtain lower 20s... 23-25mpg I do believe.

Just go with mid 20s average for them and off you go.

No idea on the W201 Diesel, do not own one and no interest to do so.

I get 26 on my 83 300SD (Turbo) and the same on 80 300D non-turbo.

Southern california mixed driving, mountains, freeway, traffic.

I always get 23 mpg in my '84 300d with 223,000.

I average 21-22 mpg in the city in my 1982 300D. Then again, I'm pretty heavy on the foot.

25 mpg in my 85 300D

1992 300D 2.5, my daily driver:

30 consistently around town, 29 if I really leadfoot it.

34-35 on the highway @70 mph.

Many, many, tanks through the car, and I get the above mileage figures very consistently. Awesome car.

1996 E300D (W210, OM606NA): 27.0 MPG average for the last 21,807 miles, mostly suburban driving (270,000 miles on the car and well cared for its entire life)

1987 300D Turbo (W124, OM603): 24.8 average for the last 13,986 miles, mostly suburban driving (154,000 total miles on the car and abused before I got it)

I used to get 28-30 combined city + hwy when I bought my '83 300SD, I'm getting now 23-25... and that's with the ALDA turned to stock settings. If I turn it 1/2 turn CCW it gets a bit worse than that. My air and fuel filters are really overdue to be replaced though and I think that might explain the decrease. I got 37 MPG once, about 2 years ago. Those were the days... I really have to replace those filters next weekend :D

In my 83 which started life as a 240d but now has a euro na 300d, a five speed od tranny and a 307 diff I get 20 around town and 35 highway. Fresh engine and very nice michelin hydroedge tires too. I drive 75 highway.

A stock 300d na would be lucky to do 25 highway with the 346 gears and automatic.

Ditto for '91 300D. My highest mpg was 38.4. My lowest, I think, was 27.
