1983 300SD Turbo - Auxiliary Fan?

I live in Arizona and the car has been running hot. Replaced the T-stat, flushed the coolant, etc. It was still hot. Replaced the radiator this afternoon. It is now running at 80-85C with the A/C on. Do I hear an AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

That was a job worth doing, but I noticed while testing the car previously that the fan at the front of the radiator is not going on. So while I'm moving things are great, but as we get into 110 F, which is right around the corner, I'm worried about stops and starts in heavy traffic.

Shouldn't this other fan be going on as the radiator temp begins to climb a bit over 85C? Is it just best to switch out the entire fan?

The fan is controlled by a temperature switch on the drier. It will definitely start when the a/c is on and the vehicle is not moving.........not enough airflow across the condenser to keep the refrigerant temperature down.

If it doesn't start, it's time to troubleshoot...........either the fan is NG.........the relay is NG.........or the temperature switch is NG.

15 Amp

It was the fuse! I looked under some old posts, went out and saw that it was blown. So you were right. No power was getting to the fan.

You guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
