722.120 into 84 300SD
Is it possible ? I've searched and the only conclusion I can make is maybe.
Tranny in the '84 300SD now has 330K or so and is on its last legs with trans-x added. 722.120 tranny I purchased supposedly has less than 100K miles Thanks for any help guys. Here she is: Last edited by wannadiesel; 06-17-2010 at 06:57 PM. Reason: pic added |

If its the same length, I don't see why not. You would need to move the older bellcrank system over with the tranny.
I don't know what you can do about the mechanical speedo on the 722.120, though. GPS maybe...?

Well I finished pulling my old trans.
I have the 722.120 tranny and old one from my SD side by side and it looks like it will work, as far as bolting up. The cooler supply and return lines are in completely different places. None of the electronics like the NSS switch or the kickdown are the same. The bowden cable is a lever action instead of a cable. The modulator is on the tailshaft. The only thing that looks compatible is the shift linkage and that is it. I'm Going to try and trade this tranny for a 722.3. |
