Used '87 300D Engine Anyone? (OM603.960)
A friend called me, he has an '87 300D turbo and has offered to sell me the engine, I need to pull it out. I'll probably take the head/IP/turbo and leave the short-block, 163,000miles on the odometer, which pains me as it will quickly degrade without the head (will probably go to the crusher that way anyhow).
Is anyone in need of the short block that wants to come and get it before I go cherry-picking? It will probably be in the $200 plus an afternoon range (nothing for me).

Why tear apart a perfectly good engine? I could put that motor in one of our cars.

It would be much smarter/efficient/practical + everything else positive to keep it intact. Or sell it intact. Who is really gonna want just the block? You can sell the engine for $1,500+ and buy a head and rebuilt IP. And it will be much less work!

I don't want the block, I already have a spare. I just want the head etc. to re-work as spares. I also don't have the means to move the complete engine around, and have no interest in buying it just to re-sell. I don't really need the IP either as I have a spare, but it's easy to carry and a shame to leave behind to rust.
So if someone has a 3.5L and might be needing this in the future, and can get here to pull it (with my help if so desired), let me know. If not, I'm sure it's not the first one to sit in a field rusting with no head.
