Hi There,
I have a 1981 240D, the temp gauge is not moving at all. What types of troubleshooting should I undertake? thanks! |

I am not sure about 240D but the sensor is normally in the engine block. May be between # 2 or 3 intake manifold. It is a single wire sensor. If you can find the sensor and ground the wire to chasis then the gauge should shot up to max. If it does then the sensor is faulty and the wiring from the sensor to dash is good. I replaced the sensor on my 190D and the gauge now works. The sensor is a thermo resister which changes value depending on the temperature of the coolant.
