300SD engine swap into 300TD
I'm preparing my kit of 'transplant parts' to stuff a 617.952 engine from a
1981 300SD W126 into a 123.190 300TD body. I think I need: 1) a W123 oil filter housing, to get the attachment point for the mechanical gauge supply hose; 2) 123 oil cooler lines 3) a 300D turbo exhaust 'head' pipe, although this may not work, need alteration due to different exit geometry at the turbo; and a new muffler pipe, which is larger on the turbo than the N/A cars. 4) accelerator linkage & pivots from a 123 5) 123 motor mounts 6) 123 fan, although these might be the same 7) A/C lines Someone thought i MIGHT need: a) a change in upper pan, though this might only apply to W116 300SD sourced engines; b) a change in vacuum pump, but its not clearly required except for availability of proper plumbing Anyone able to verify the last two? Am I leaving anything out? the original W123 engine is long gone, so I'll probably be looking for a 'pick n pull' in north san diego county with available materials, too.
