Sticky bouncy speedometer
What causes a speedometer to stick? On my 240D I have had the problem since I repainted my needles. What did I do wrong? Is there a fix?

Check your speedo cable, it could need greasing or it's hanging up somewhere, try to give it a little slack and see what happens

painted the needles on the 240 a wk & 1/2 ago with some finger nail paint.
for about the first wk the needle would stick to the peg. then & about 30mph it would jump up. I think it finally dried enough now. Just give some time. Maybe a gear is starting to slip . Charlie

I've read elsewhere on this forum that a few drops of ATF in the speedo cable will help. I've not tried it (yet).

After repainting, I had to take mine apart and put a drop of ATF on the peg the needle rests on.
