83 W123 300TDT charging systems troubles
My 1983 300TDT Wagon has been giving me a fit lately. A while back the battery light came on on the dash, my Ford mechanic friend immeadiatly told me it was the alternator. I thought it couldn't be, but i guess the 3 year old battery had been on its last legs for a while. Took them out and had them tested, both battery and alternator were bad.
Replaced them both, now my warning lights on the dash board are off but the battery still doesn't seem to be taking a charge. Things I have done, 1. Cleaned the ground connection from the battery to the chassis 2. cleaned all the connectors in that box on the fender where some of the alt wires connect 3. cleaned the spades on the alt and inside the connector Things I think I need to do: 1 Clean the ground strap from the engine to the chassis 2 Check the light bulb in the dash Anything else I should check? I know someone here has been down this road before thanks

Make sure your glow plugs are not on constantly. Best tp read voltage at plugs or harness. This heavy draw could mask things.
