'82 240d - needs a radiator, need recommendations
So. I JUST bought this car. It's my first MB and I love it. The fellow I bought it from replaced the radiator and water pump only a year ago and today, without warning (temperature was fine!), the radiator took a dump. Steam-a-plenty and, after a few hours of cooling down, when I put some new coolant into the radiator, it just leaked right out. From the seam on the top, from the rear fins, it leaked like a leaky thing.
So. I suppose I need a new'n. Any brand/type recommendations. I don't want to have to replace it again in another year so I'd love to hear what y'all think. Thanks in advance!

You can go the junk yard route, or buy a new one. Junk Yard...$50 (about)
I just checked on "All Parts Express"...$220 "Fast Lane"... $260. think they are a Behr radiator, this is what mercedes generaly uses. Reason I was checking, my 80 240 started to leak along the top tank. I wonder if the Previous owner put in a "New" one or a "Used " one? seems strange a new radiator would blow after one yr. Charlie

Is there supposed to be an overflow reservoir? The radiator has a connection for one...

The 240 didn't have one, the over flow tube clips to the shroud and empties out over the lower rad hose.
I think the 300-up had the overflow tank.

I'll probably take some heat on this, but one of the things you can do to reduce stress on cooling system components is go down to a 7# radiator cap. I've done that with my 300D and my 2003 Dodge, with no issues at all. If you need that last couple of pounds the keep a lid on the cooling system, you already have other problems.
