82' 300 TD Trunk Emblem Removal?

Does anyone know how to get the emblems off of the trunk or rear hatch? Do I just try to pry them up with a paint scraper or something? I know that the one in the middle has a nut holding it in place, but the other two have little clips inside the rear hatch.

two 8mm bolts on the inside of the deck. you have to take off all the screws and remove the door panel...

There does seem to be a nut, for the star anyway, on the inside. You should be able to access it without the inner panel.

FYI the star on the trunk of the 123 sedans is the same. it will fit properly... of course ya have to bend it slightly to account for the angle of the deck...

I don't know if the wagon is the same as the sedan. On my 83 300D sedan, only the center star is held by a nut. The other two mount in white plastic grommets (two for 300D and two for turbodiesel) and push on, pull off. I've had mine off a few times to polish. I used nylon fishing line to get under the emblems from both sides and pulled carefully - they came off without bending.

Thanks. I too have to do this. My rear star is broken and my TD needs to be painted. Removing trim and other items will begin soon.

I pulled the damaged star off my 79 TD and replaced it with the star from a 78D perhaps the emblems changed their mounting style on the newer models? I will look at the mount style on my 83 td and compare it to the one on the 85 parts car I have.
