ARE SHRADER VALVE CORES FOR R-12 SAME AS BIKE TYPE

I have yet to do my A/C system I have "all" the stuff

I just don't want to over look anything

I found out my low side schrader valve core is not seating properly
I bet it's OEM and there for in need of replacement
maybe that's why my A/C didn't work

Are these valve cores the same as in an innertube ect.

the schrader valve hasn't changed much since oh maybe 1909

so I don't want to put 100 bucks of R-12 and oil ect.
and have it leak out because of a 15 cent valve

I have plenty for my mountain bike (yukon FX)
can I use those????

Here is the info you are asking for.

And the idea of trying to replace one of those valves scares me more than a little. You need to use nitrogen and find the leak after appropriately evacuating whats in there.

Depending on skill level, you may want to find an AC guy to at least test the system before you put that Golden Republican Refridgerant in there.

totally different cores.
bike cores are nearly double the length of a/c cores.

This factory trained Schwinn mechanic has seen hundreds of long AND short bicycle tube cores.

I lost all of my freshly filled R12 last year because of a suspected
bad schrader valve.
All has held tight after replacing them.

I replace the valve cores any time I open a system. It just doesn't pay to do anything else. Valve cores are probably the most common cause of refrigerant leaks.

You must know something that I don't.

heh, he's seen the adapter blow off and dump a full charge of 134 and leak dye all over my yard...
I think the thought of putting a wrench of any type on a charged a/c system has him kinda skittish...
