Primer pump fixable?

Changed my fuel filter earlier and as I pumped the primer it sloshed out fuel. Is this rebuildable with a new oring or seal? Called around and it's not available at the local advace or oreillys.
Is this a source for air to enter my fuel system? I tightened it down secure and it seems ok while the engine is running. My fuel filter is a little more than half way full when idleing, should it be totally full?

Thanks for any input on this.

What engine, what pump? The old white topped screw down pumps are typically replaced with the new spring loaded style since the old ones leak. There is a rebuild kit available somewhere for the old style.

i guess just buy one. i purchased one a couple hours ago for the same reason. I got it from *********.com for a $14 (part), had it shipped as opposed to going and getting one because i do not have time and hate checking store availability. it is a very good website and i usually get my orders next day for the cheap regular rate.

i also found out my pump was bad the same way you found out yours was bad.

Mine was leaking as well. I'd imagine a rebuild kit would cost as much as a new one. I bought a new one and swapped it out in a few minutes on my SD. Easy stuff...and not expensive.

The newer style primer pump seems to pump much better than the old one.

The air in the primary filter is fine. Just be sure all of your hoses are in good shape and that your hose clamps are "clamping properly".

Theirs two available on the allparts express site. One looks just like mine with the white top and the other is a Bosch that s totally black. Os the bosch one the new style spring loaded? The Bosch looks alot skinnier than mine.
Also it might be a week or so before I can replace it, does this present a problem with driving the car like damage anything?
Thanks alot for the replies.

The white one is fine as long as it is sealing properly. The new one (the one you mentioned above) is smaller and spring loaded and seems to work much better than the older style. It is quite a bit smaller than the old style.

You should be fine to drive it. Just keep some tools in the car in case you get air in the lines and have to bleed the system (loosen injector hard lines). You may get a little bit of a "hot shake" if air gets in the lines.
