Oil Separator drain tube

Does anyone know where I can find an oil drain line and bracket?

The one on my car has a missing bracket, so now it has a huge rub hole about an inch long, from vibrating against the exhaust/turbo area.

Where does the bracket connect to? Any pics or diagrams? I could not find any.

I am going to do a temp fix by using high temp silicone part of an oil resistant rubber line and screw type clamps

Thanks!!!

It appears to be below the turbo according to a pic in the Haynes manual.

At the begining of the Month I had occasion to remove my Blow By Drain Tube.

You could make this yourself. In the pic it is Just a piece of flat Iron with 2 holes in it top and bottom and a smaller one somwhat in the center. One attaches to the upper Rear Motor Mount Arm.

The Red Arrow point to the Drain Tube and the Yellow arrow points to an other hole where a small Bolt and nut clamp the Drain tube to the Flat Iron.
on my 84 the drain tube had a plate welded to it with a hole in it for that small Bolt to go through instead of the Clamp shown in the diagram #176; or at least that is what I remember.
Barely showing in the Pic are the 2 lower Turbo Studs where the Turbo Exhaust Housing bolts to the Exhaust Manifold.

Thanks there TooMAny!

Diesel911, Thanks forthe pic. Was your turbo assembly removed for the pic?

Are the drain tubes still avaiable?

Thanks!!!

Take a good look at my pic; I had to take the Turbo off because the upper most nut was all rounded off by the Prior Owner and I needed room to get at it.
(Also If I remember correctly the upper Nut is attached to a Bolt going through a hole in the manifold there; not a stud.)
I got a chance to use my External Ezee Outs for the first time ever.

How about a pic of the Tube where it is worn through. Since there is minimal Oil pressure there it may be something that can be repaired.

If I could get a pic of it, I would. It rubbed against the connection of the down pipe and flex pipe, and made a long, skinny hole. I had to clean it by feel, since the air cleaner bracket was still attached. I could feel the hole as well. I used the copper RTV, a 2 inch long pieve of 1/2" inner diameter powersteering line and screw clamps to hold it. I did have to split the P/S line length wise though.

This is a revelation to me. On my 84 the drain tube has never been secured to anything. It is only held in place by the O-ring on the top and bottom. When I have had my air cleaner off and am putting it back on, I have to hold the tube and line it up with the exit tube coming off the bottom of my air cleaner housing. Once I have it lined up, the drain tube stays in place. It was rattling around recently and I discovered that I had not lined it up on the bottom. It was leaking oil, of course, but once I corrected the problem, the leak stopped.

I'll have to look for that place where it is secured and see what I can do to correct it.

I would think you could easily get the tube off of a parts car from a junkyard or forum member. Or else make one out of some flexible copper tubing.

You can probably get away with some oil-rated high temp hose. Either cut both ends off the pipe and wormdrive them to the hose or take a couple inches of it, slice it lengthwise and install it as a doubler over the hole (which somebody already suggested).

Neither is a very graceful repair but both would be easy and cheap.

That is how mine is, and that is how the hole got worn through.

You Fix the Problem!

Concerning the use of Rubber Hose it could be done but since it is only Gravity returning the Oil to the pan the Hose would have to be carefully routed. And, there there is the fact that the Hose may end up near the Turbo Exhaust Housing and the Exhaust Manifold.
I though about using Rubber Hosewhere I made a Blow By Oil Seperator. See Pic.

But, I decided it was easier to stick with the original Blow-by Oil Drain Tube. I could not see an easier way to route a Hose that would be any improvment on the Stock Tube.

That is one heck of a fancy oil separator. I love it! The colors are great.

Some day I will paint it.
I stuffed it with some of that washable Filter Media used on Houshold Gas Furnaces.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=280376

After running it; I have not taken the Air Fitler off yet to see how much Oil Vapor is still getting by; but the Tube between the Breather is no longer clear but blackish colored. So clearly the Vapor is not condensing completely.

I did look inside of the Breather and there was only a little thick black Oil near the Drain area.

Don't paint it! Perhaps you can fabricate a seasonal replacement. Something for Valentine's Day would be nice. Or maybe Independence Day or Thanksgiving.
