Whats Wrong with my Window!!!

Hi All,

I have a 1983 300TD wagon.

The window suddenly does not stay up. I can move it freely up and down with my hand. The motor turns when pressing the window switch but no window movement.

Is it my window regulator or the motor?

I took off the door panel, nothing looks broken, the motor sounds like its working. The two gears that should move the window do not move when I press the window switch.

If anyone's had similar it would be a big help.

-Philip

nylon slider

There is a nylon part that breaks in the window regulator. You have to stakeit in after you get the old one out. My dealer carries the part for not much money. It is not a difficult repair. I have done 6 of them now. The part is cheap. I do not have the part number at the moment.

Dog bone, dog jaw... something about a dog. I bought a couple but never used them.. Had to get the welder out to fix the sheared regulator rivets I don't think it will ever break again lol.

Google "diy mercedes window regulator" and you'll come up with links to several that will show you step by step what's wrong, what you need, and how to fix it.
