Protect your heater core tubes(pics)
I pulled the heater core today and was surprised to see that the heater box was dry. When I checked the tubes I found a thin slice in the inlet tube which had been produced by the tube vibrating against the firewall. I'll take the core to a shop tomorrow and have them replace that tube and pressure test the heater core. My advice is to wrap a thin piece of rubber around the tube at the firewall to prevent this from happening to you.

Thanks for posting theses pictures - I'll check my car. I must say I'm surprised that a rubber grommet or such like wasn't / isn't a standard fit. These cars have rubber bits virtually everywhere else.

There is a standard fit, but itīs a plastic grommet.
