Swap compatability of 722.608 with a 722.636

I believe the 722.608 is the OEM trans that is in my E300DT. If I need to get a rebuilt trans, can I swap it with a trans and torque converter from a 99' E55?
Is there any difference between the two? Can the 722.636 handle more power?
Thanks,

Different specs, different ratios. Stick with the stock item.

I hear you on that Parrot. Over the next two weeks I'm getting:
-3" Exhaust
-Larger Intercooler (hopefully if I can find something that will fit)
-Speedtuning Stage 2 ECU Flash

My transmission is pretty good for 170K on the clock. Although I'm wondering if it is going to be able to handle the performance upgrades. I just figured an E55 transmission swap might be the best to handle the increase in torque and power. I already go through my first and second gear pretty quick with the stock transmission.
