Engine Bay Pics

Can anyone post an engine picture for a 1982-1985 300D? My newly acquired 1983 300D (California model ) is missing the fuel pre-filter and I would like to see how to put one back on it like it is supposed to be. Also, any decent pictures of vacuum line routing would be great as well.

Many thanks

Glenn

it goes in the flexible line just before the primary pump. Just cut the hose & place it there with a hose clamp on each end.

It should go hard line soft line, pre-filter, soft line, then lift pump.

Yeah, here's a diagram. Item #89 is the primary fuel filter.

This just might help...

Here is a picture of my 1981 European W123 engine bay... the subject of the photograph was for something else - but if it looks similar to your engine bay I'll make a new photograph for you tomorrow.

You may be able to locate the vacuum routing with a sticky on the subject.

california vacuum route

Here is some more really good info for vacuum
transmission related. You can "fine tune" the flaring, weird shifting, and banging related things

Is that some funky Euro manual front SLS option?

1985 300D engine bay pix

Here are some pictures of the 1985 300D-T that I once owned. In the second picture, the primary fuel filter cannot quite be seen as it is under the cigar hose, sorry. The red arrow in the last picture points to the Vacuum Control Valve (VCV) for the transmission. Caveat: the EGR system and trap catalyst were removed from this car for testing.
