slave cylinder question. 4speed swap

I have a new slave cylinder from a 79 240d with the old style 4 speed transmission. does anyone know if it will work with the 83 aluminum casing transmission? it would be nice if it did so i dont have to buy another. thanks again. the conversion is coming along here well. i'm just putting it all together in my spare time so it is going slowly but surely.

They are different as I remember, someone will know for sure. They are not too expansive, if that helps

So it won't take up much room when you store it.

Yes, they are different. Old type have holes at twelve o' clock and six, later at one o' clock and seven for obvious reasons. Both available from aftermarket much cheaper and not inferior to OEM. I believe old slave will work on new but certainly not vice-versa.
