1999 Mercedes Benz E300 Turbo-Diesel

I know zilch about W210s other than what I have read on the forum. I'm thinking about possibly buying another MB and if I do I will be keeping my 300D for a fun restoration project.

I would like to get some opinions on this E300.

Looks like a very nice car but what do I know.

I have not called about or went and looked at the car yet.

Forgive me if this isn't the proper place to post this type of question.

Car looks OK - but has spent A LOT of time in the sun.

What about records?

Find out what parts and procedures have been completed (records) on a car of this age.

I have one like it I bought new, (signature car) for sale with a clean Carfax, all records, MORE factory options, 100% garaged, NO sun damage, crystal-clear headlight/fog lenses AND an engine compartment in better condition than even that one, all the while being similarly priced.

You should get VMI on this car to find out what maintenance/warranty work has been done on it. Looks like the owner replaced the rear tails with E55 tails. I wonder what the 29 by the oil filler cap means?

Throws up a RED FLAG!

Those are NOT OEM tailight lenses for a 1999 E300TD. Those tailights are were used on the 1998. This car was manufactured in May 1999! Possibly experienced a rear-end wreck.

The front headlights are as foggy as the Puget Sound or San Francisco Bay. While the rear are newish looking clear lenses.

My close friends sold their '99 E300TD in June which was identical to mine, (we even bought them new the same weekend in July 1999) except mine came with heated front seats - a $595.00 option.

Theirs had door dings like crazy, 87K miles and fetched $12,500.00 cash in one day on E-Bay. It probably would have gone for an additional $1,500.00.

My friend's car had none of the extensive parts replacements and maintenance that mine has received.
