1985 300D - Before/After new shocks & springs

Here are some photos of my 85 300D before and after new coil springs and shocks. All of the springs that came out were broken in 2 pieces. I think they were the original coil springs. With the new coil springs the car is several inches higher up. It's specially noticeable in the front.

The car is handling soooo much better. Before the new springs and shocks it was fish tailing over the smallest bumps. Now it's smooth as can be.

With a few thousand miles on the set up everything should settle down some and the car should drop down a bit.

I don't know about anyone else, but I like it lower.

It does look like a mud hopper all jacked up like that. If only we could stick a 4-matic in the w123 wagon. What a great car that would be!

Phew, that's a big difference. I've never heard of all 4 springs breaking!

Sounds like your previous owner must have used it as his offroading car ..."hold on, here comes the big jump..."

Has it seen a carwash lately? Sheesh. And your tires look pretty low too.

I wouldn't mind an off-road capable W123. Rally time!

I was going to say I prefer the look of the first pic. Replacing springs in my benz, I might consider a 3/4-1" lowering spring and new dampers to match.

enjoy the new ride.
