What color is a dash from a parchment 123 interior
 

As the title says, does anyone know if a dash from a parchment interior 123 has a true black dash, or one of those dark brown (psuedo-black) dashes?

My GUESS would be dark brown like the 124/126/201 dashes would have, but that's a guess.

It is also possible that the dash is not original and a black replacement, best to see it in person with a bright light (not flourescent or LED).

I saw a w123 with the light beige/sand color, (NOT PALAMINO) that had a black dash.

I had a parchment interior 300D for a while. And the pics make it look black but it's really hard to tell. Here is a couple pics of the one I had. I ask becuase I'm in the throws of buying a dash, but I need black one, and the guy has a parchment interior to compare it to, but I'm not sure what color the parchment interior dash really is.

That pic is definately the original brown upper dash.

Black. I used to own a 79 116 with one of the brown dashes and that aint it. Yes I know they're a different model but the stuff used to mold the dashes is the same.

But my 85 300D was the dark "Gulf Blue" with parchment interior and I considered the dash to be a true black

Black. I have had over a dozen with palamino interiors and black dash. The only other color in a 123 is blue, I believe.

Mine's got a black dash, and the interior is a very light beige-tan color that I would describe as parchment.

I've seen probably hundreds of 123's in the wrecking yards and have only seen Black and Blue dashboards. Not long ago, I snagged a really nice Black dash from a White/Parchment 123. Yes, Black is the right color.......Dennis

two interiors with creme/parchment interiors. a 78 and an 85 both have black dashes.

My 85 Palimino interior dash is indeed VERY dark brown in full bright sunlight.I was sitting in a parking lot eating lunch one day and noticed that. I'm sureit is supposed to be seen as black, as in anything but the brightest natural light, it does look black. I'm pretty sure it was meant to be perceived as black. It does not make any sense to have really, really dark brown and a real black, as choices. Has anyone ever seen these two colors side by side?I'd bet it's just a vendor manufacturing variation, both intendending to be the same color.

No, it is brown, is supposed to be brown. I have several dashes in my shop, walk by them frequently in the yards, and it is very easy to mistake the dark brown dashes as black. However, when you compare the dash and center console in any brown-tone interior to the center console and dash in a black interior car, the difference is obvious.

I've had several people with palomino, cream-beige, tobacco etc. interiors swear that they have black dashes, but the right light reveals the difference.

Another interesting thing is that Mercedes stopped molding the cluster surround in black, around '91, for the 201 and the 124, not sure why on that decision, so the late 201 and 124 all have a dark-brown cluster surround.

Flash photos also seem to show the brown more than simple observation, I don't know why.

So what color is this dash?
