Unavailable part dilemma - 722.367 trans

Ok, so I pulled the valve body for check / cleaning and to see whether the seals on the accumulator piston were cracked / bad. The piston seems to be sloppy in the bore and so I called the dealer and gave them the part number to order a replacement....they said it was unavailable.

Actually, I wouldn't mind replacing all the piston seals, but I'm not sure if they're available.

part # 1262775332

Any ideas about what to do about this?

Thanks

Steve A

A picture of the part might be handy, so we all don't have to log into EPC to see it.

Might one of the "shift kits" have the parts you seek?

You can't see it on EPC, the trans valve body breakdown doesn't go far enough. The part number is from the piston itself.

It looks like a K1 / K2 piston except it's beige and not quite as large.

Thanks

Thanks Sixto, I already perused all of the trans threads I could find looking for some reference to this particular piston. I'm not sure if the superior shift kit has anything other than springs but I will take a closer look.

Many pistons in an auto trans appear "sloppy", sometimes they are made like that & use the seal to support them. There are plenty of junked trans about, maybe you need to see if you can find another trans & have a look at the part.

I would love to, however, in my neck of the woods there aren't all that many junk MB (ZF) transmissions to pick from. Yards around here don't keep core piles of anything anymore, they all send it to scrap processing as quickly as they can. I might know of one trans that wouldn't yet be gutted, I'll have to check and see. Thanks for the tip, it jogged my memory about a car I know of, unfortunately I think it's standing in water right now, which makes getting the valve body a pita.
