This should not be a problem as it only takes a dipole moment to complete. The dilithium has been replaced with iridium and so not a problem, though it does glow in the dark!! The local police chief Shaun OBr- ion secretary Molly Cule explains that this could result in a fine of 75 Amperes of Joules. This fix may only work south of the equator though as vortexes anticyclone here.

It helps if you have a good knowledge of Chemistry!!
Too bad light years is a measurement of distance and not time... You can leave your wessle a few light years away, but you cannot leave your it for a few light years. I may be misunderstanding you because of your Australian colloquialisms though.

Tyler,
I think you may need to do some additional studies on Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal before you get too excited about the relationship between distance and time !!

This was true for me too until last year... I seriously suggest watching SG1. Never try and compare it to Star Trek they are as different as Pyramid and Parrises Squares

I never really gave SG1 a second thought until i went shooting and shot my friends FN-P90

I'm a Vice Admiral in the MMO of Star Trek. I didn't realize they had something for BSG.

A cloak is created in a vessel by pushing it slightly out of phase with normal space. After the Romulan War one of the conditions under cessation of hostilities was the Federation could not use cloaking technology on their vessels. The neutral zone was also created.

A loose dilithium crystal, if that's even possible, wouldn't be causing any power surges; quite the opposite actually. Most likely there was an overload in the EPS system somewhere that caused a cascade failure. Usually an external force, such as weapons fire, would cause this. Major safeguards would have to be bypassed for the EPS system to allow itself to be overloaded. Perhaps a saboteur is in your midst? The Tal Shiar and Obsidian Order are pretty good at making things look like accidents.

Another major fail is introducing any Doc Brown technology to a federation starship in the first place. You cannot expect a device designed to time travel to manage something as delicate as a cloak on a starship. A second year cadet with a passing grade in Quantum mechanics could understand this.

Thankfully enough of these classes of starships are being decommissioned that replacement parts should be easily salvageable.
while I agree, melding Doc Brown electronics and Federation physics is unwise, it can give additional boost during Ion storms. I think you are mistaking the Federation banned cloak technologies with the original 123 series CLOUD Frequency warp techniques in cloak technologies.
no serious cadet would ever admit to having a failed timeshift attachment in their vessel. however the romulan/klingon decommissioned models of cloak standard on the original glued on fender model 123's were prone to Dilithium fracture, and without the Upgraded "football" being removed and replace with the downstream active matrix system, surges through the system are actually common.

I'm a fan of all things mechanical and Scifi "not syfy... ugh!"
and besides... everybody knows this sucker's nuclear, so getting additional photons should be a simple process, if you thought ahead and brought additional pellets...

little known fact, if you touch a gen 1 romulan cloaking device, the cloaked item immediately becomes uncloaked.

I was kind of hoping I'd find a DIY thread here on how to repair your flux capacitor... My indy wants an arm and a leg for fixing mine...
