Windows Switches
Does anyone know of a place where I can get decent replacement window switches for my 1985 300D at a reasonable price? ($30 a piece seems kinda high when the current switches still function OK, they're just worn)
Can I simply purchase the worn plastic rocker tops (the black plastic part that has the window emblem which wears out to a round circle)...... |

The best would probably be the used parts section of the forum here, or if you want new ones buy them from FastLane or AllPartsExpress. I even have a bunch of switches from my 300SD but you haven't listed year/make/model which makes a difference.

Hmm, not sure how I missed that--its been a crazy day for me at work today maybe I'm just going nuts. I think my 300SD switches would fit that but I don't have access to them for at least another week. OP might want to put up a WTB ad in the parts section, there are probably a ton of used ones floating around.

Although the tops are not separably purchasable, they can be removed and replaced. I replaced several switch caps on my '85 300D using junkyard units. Note that most older W126 switches interchange with W123 but W124 are different. If you don't have access to a junkyard, put a "wanted" notice in the parts section of the forum.

The early W201 and W126 have similar rockers.
Rear window switches aren't used often, I would pick those up and swap the dual combination switch rockers right away. Good time to clean them up too. Switches that have recessed bases (they attach from beneath the wood trim, not above) are different.

I applied some clear nail polish on my switches to see if I could keep
the decals from wearing off. makes them a little shinny, but look better than to worn off white spot. Check through the PNP yards. some times new one`s can be found. as said above, swap out the rockers. sometimes I have found switches where the front window switch is worn off, but the rear section is good. I pry them off and use them for spares. I think PNP charges $13 for a switch. Charlie
