plug the tee where the yellow lines are hooked up. it will disable the door lock system, and likely fix your leak. the car should then shut down properly.

The second best way to shut down a diesel
 

Next to shutting it off with the controls it was made with, is to stall it with the transmission as you said she was presently doing. How hard is that? Put it in 3rd or 4th gear and let out the clutch and it stops period. Is it hard on the clutch? Yes, it causes wear, but not so that you would ever notice it.

If you want an effective Cable Shutoff you need to stay away from the Throttle Linkages completely.
You could remove the Vacuum Shutoff From the IP and un-crimp Shutoff Valve to get it into 2 pieces.
Run the Cable through the hole where the Vacuum goes and attach the Cable to some metal part that goes through the Diaphragm.
Put it together with JB Weld or bend the Crimp back over and install it as you would a regular shutoff.
Be carful when you adjust it bacaus if you put forward moation on the cable it may push the Fuel Rack Foward and give it Fuel.
I did no spell checking on the above.

As follows:

1. Take the hood off the car and leave it off

2. Cut a section of broom handle long enough to reach out the window and depress the stop lever.

3. When you want to stop the engine, just reach out the window and commence to pokin' the stop lever with the broom handle.


Seriously - just fix the factory system, even if you have to plug off the door locks. For someone who bragged about never having anyone else work on your cars, a simple vacuum shutoff valve shouldn't pose much of a challenge. That, or everything you own is a pile of junk.

I had to "LOL" at that one. :D

I will join in, by pass all of the vac except brake and shutoff. Simple enough and should work. If it doesnt work then you have bigger issues (ie sucking oil into the vac pump). Rarely does the vac switch on the ignition fail.
