First the SDL and now the SD is toast
I was driving on the 401 west and all of the sudden the car shut off, I tried cranking and nothing. I get it towed home and then tried turning it with a breaker bar and no go. At this point I was thinking replace the engine but then decided scrap the car, the engine is to expensive here and not really worth it as the body wasn't in the greatest shape. I decided to find out what went wrong and pulled the motor and started to take thinks apart everything seemed okay up top, I took the oil pan off and behold the oil pump chain was in the oil pan. So now I decided to get a SDL and put the 350SDL head on that car.

Interesting. What mileage on that engine? I've never heard of an oil pump chain breaking before.

Don't replace the head of the SDL unless there's something wrong with it.

I had 398,021 Km on the engine, the reason I'm thinking of using the head is the spare engine I have has a #14 head.

Was the engine original? Did it leave a puddle of oil?

IMHO you can never get the cylinder head seated as well after the fact as they did at the factory. If it ain't broke don't fix it...
