Where is OVP Relay 1987 300 TD

Hi
Can anyone help me locate the over voltage protection relay on a W 124 1987 300 TD?
I looked behind the fuse panel & on the passenger side where the Klima relay is.
Thanks for your help in advance.
B

Behind the battery, and the plastic splash-shield, there is a red-top/fused relay mounted to the side of the ECU bracket.

I didn't see it back there.
Is it under a black plastic cover?

There is a black shield behind the battery that runs from the battery tray to the cowl. Pull that out. The OVP is red and back with the computers and klima.

OVP voltage

Hello, anyone know what the correct voltage to the OVP for an 87' 300D is? I'm getting around 13.5V, to me this seems okay but it everytime I plug in the OVP the fuse blows immediately. Faulty OVP?

Possibly a bad diode in the OVP, yes, otherwise a short or some other problem in one of the loads (EDS, etc.) drawing 10+ Amps causing the fuse to blow. Quickest (not necessarily least expensive) diagnostic is to plug in a known good OVP. You can also remove the OVP and connect it directly to a 12V source; if it still blows fuses it is defective.

Thanks Jeremy, your idea of testing the OVP was smart. It was defective and blew under 12V. I believe the coil lost continuity somehow. Thanks!
