Oil Cooler lines broken! new place for me.

ok, went to help a forum member here in my area, and noticing all the oil started the search for it. noticed a dented cooler line showing past evidence of bad motor mounts allowing the hard part of the line to beat a good dent from the steering box.
anyway, searching all over the motor, found the lower cooler line, twisted right at the crimp connection to the hose... at the cooler end. oil squirting from that spot.
ODD???
I've never seen one fail there.
I'm thinking we'll be working on this for a bit...
the car needs upper control arms, and several boots, drag link, etc, but CRITICAL is the cooler lines.
I told him, with 3 toddlers running around, stability of the vehicle is MOST important, he does not have a garage, and his driveway is concrete, but NOT level, so I recommended a gravel spot behind his house for the surgery. I'm thinking of getting a portable garage to do this type of thing in the yard... out of the elements. make it easier to use Heat / A/C around the car too...
I'll bring a spare cooler, in case his is siezed...
his car has had the engine changed in it, his 84 has the rear style tach, but the motor only has the front pickup, and several other clues that the motor is from an older wagon. an 01 type fuel filter base, the PS pump is the older style, etc etc...
I'm putting together a list of stuff he SHOULD do to the car, as it's got several chinks in the level of perfection the vehicle shows.
HE'S GOT CROSS BARS, AND A BLUE 60/40 WITH REAR SEAT, AND HEAD RESTS!!! and his blue dash looked crack free! SOOOO JEALOUS!!!

Ahh, vstech, you've got a good heart. Makes me wish I lived in NC.

Indeed I am fortunate to have vstech nearby. Thanks again for diagnosing my issues and finding the critical leak that I hadn't noticed. I will be in touch very soon. A friend down the street offered his garage for the repairs. I'm hesitant to take him up on it unless I think we can do the work without ruining his garage floor in oil spills.

awesome, that'll be better than dealing with the gravel. they make an absorbant pad you can cover the garage floor with for sale at wallmart and most autosupply stores, also, you can use cardboard boxes and drip pans. since you got that new lighted floor jack from HF today, we shouldn't encounter many problems changing the hoses!
I'll bring some 6 ton jack stands, to save you some coin on things you don't need to have often.

OK, Cool. I'll take a look at Walmart and find something. I also have plenty of plastic I can lay down under the cardboard.

What sizes of hex sockets do I need if I buy them individually?

don't worry about it. I've got everything. I'd not use plastic under the cardboard, it'll make it slippery and difficult to maneuver etc.

Parts are on order. They should be here on Friday. It's a BIG price tag but hoping this will be my last large part order for a long while.

Yea I think that too.... Then my eyes open and see something else that either should be done,....must be done,.....or I want it to be done . At least know I understand what they kept telling me in math class about when X approaches infinity !!!! Good luck... I still need to do them dam oil cooler lines.
