Rusty green euro 300D five speed

Yep I found one again. VIN#wdb12313010290773
It's a strange green with cloth interior, manual windows, euro climate, "round" euro lights and a what appears to be a five (forward) speed. 617-912, sedan, us bumpers and whole car is rusty. Euro's are not in good shape although glass looks good. Runs and drives fine*. What a good price to pay for this car? It's here in NY/LI area.

*so says the seller- it's blocked in where it's parked now.

What are they currently asking?

If it's a 617 with a manual trans that has the proper flywheel, it's worth at least $600.

The guy is asking a grand, but I have not driven it. How can I tell if it's a five or four speed? It's a "M" pumped 617, but with the russian vin site down I can't test the vin in short order. The shifter knob is worn enough that seeing the four or five pattern is iffy. There does seem to be another gear up to the right. I'm thinking reverse is push down up left on the w123 five speed correct? The seller says it's a five, but it's not his car. Can I crawl under and see the extra shift rod? Doesn't the five have four rods? If not how many?

They have the same three linkages as the 4 speed, if it's the newer style 5 speed (not sure how many the older style had). I'd crawl under and see how long the transmission is, the five speeds are almost as long as an automatic.

Man William, wish I was in a position, I'd throw you some money. Alex needs a manual trans, be it a 4 or 5 speed.

Is this car in Fort Pierce up off of U.S 1?

I think I have seen that car...

Car is in NY. I can shift it but in a car I've never shifted finding all gears with the engine off was not a 100% foolproof test of four or five speeds. Please take the pic and describe the shift pattern of your five speed VStech.

Tony- I have everything save the flywheel from a euro 617 four speed in my garage- complete with a 617 drive shaft. Wait till spring and I'll deliver if you want.

The rear tail piece on the 5 speed is like 4 or 5 inches, but as said the easiest way is just to check all the gears.

Run the vin on the russian site at least it will let you know what it was delivered with I expect.

On the factory 123 five speed reverse is below fifth on the far right and you have to push down to get it instead of lifting on the lever.
