VCV Adjustment

When I was removing and checking the glow plugs, I removed the ALTA unit and the plug next to it for better access. I thought because it had plastic ears on it and I could see threads at the base of it, it unscrewed, so I turned it, before popping the wire connector off. Now that I am starting to drive the car more, the idle is really low and the Stop lever has dropped down to the point where if you barely touch it it kills the motor.
I have read that this piece is adjustabe, position#4 for a 630 RPM idle.
I can't remember how I got the wires off the first time. How do I get this apart so I can reset it to raise the idle?
Thanks.

The plug beside the ALDA is for the control rod sensor. The ring with tabs is a bayonet lock for the connector.

What do you mean "get this apart so I can reset it to raise the idle?" Idle adjustment is made using the ELR trim knob by the brake master cylinder. I don't know if ELR works with the control rod sensor disconnected. Why can't you just push the connector back in place. The bayonet lock is optional at this point. If you seat the connector properly, it's unlikely to come off.

If the stop lever is hanging low, you likely have a vacuum or key switch problem. Only the ELR actuator does anything to the IP. The rest of the electricals are sensors. I don't know if the ELR actuator is connected to the stop lever internally. Makes no sense to me that it would be but I've never been that deep into an IP.

Topic says VCV adjustment. Is there a specific VCV question I didn't see?

Whoops. I got the ELR confused with that control rod device. I was looking again for vacuum leaks today and saw the ELR next to the booster.
It turns out that ELR is set 4 and the tach says about 630.
I replaced several of the rubber connectors on the various vacuum lines and the lever is riding a little higher.
Thanks, I need supervision!
