Air cleaner bracket and bushing repair

I woke up this morning and started my SD up only to hear a hell of a rattle at idle. Upon inspection, I found that my air cleaner insulators we broken. SO, I investigated a cold air kit (I know the factory air cleaner IS a cold air system) so as to never need to encounter this problem again. I elected to just repair it due to the $$$ cost of an aftermarket snorkel and K&N (I opted to not go K&N, due to filtration issues). I used aircraft nuts, grade 8 bolts and steel reinforced rubber windshield wiper motor mounting grommets. I think it will do the trick for about $9. Has anybody had long term success with this? I also welded a few cracks in the bracket and then reinstalled. I will let you know how it does.
