MB approved fluids page?

http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/bevo-sheets-sort1.html

I'm tired of reading too many tranny fluid threads and am trying to decide between Dex/Merc III and the, supposedly,
MB approved Redline Synthetic ATF which is DEX II.

Is there a page showing MB approved fluids?
I found the above site but it doesn't have the products sheet 236.4
which is my cars spec sheet. It's an 84 300SD 722.303 tranny.

I'm going to do a full fluid and filter change and am sick and tired of reading on the internet!

Thanks,
Jeff

it's an OLD transmission.
ANY atf is going to work as well as any other.
the BEST is going to be the redline.
anything with the dextron rating will work.

Yea, I know, I was just going to throw some Valvoline DEX/MERC in and made the mistake of starting read too many posts on the subject.
Someone put synthetic in and their front seal started to leak.
Someone else said it had to be DEX II. I was just looking for the official
MB approved fluids list and could never find it.

And as far as not being particular about what fluid to put in because the
tranny is OLD, seems like you'd want to take extra care what you put in it
BECAUSE it's old.

People on this site seem fairly particular about what oil they put in their old engine.

I think I'll be putting the Redline in the tranny.

Thanks all,
Jeff

Dexron II was superseded years ago by Dexron III, which has now been superseded by Dexron VI. Genuine Dexron III is no longer produced, but there are plenty of aftermarket fluids which claim to meet Dexron III specifications. All follow-on Dexron versions are advertised to be backwards compatible.

And the Dexron VI is what I finally put in my car today after having read scores of posts on the subject. My car is a 1990 300SE. I changed the trans fluid and filter. Your statement about the backwards compatible Dexron versions is true from what I read and what I was told on the phone by Mobil technical services.

I figured they would be backward compatible, I just didn't understand why
Redline would still make the above product to specifically replace only Dexron II. That's the one that they say is MB approved.

Thanks,
Jeff

I didn't want to put a fully synthetic fluid in my car, so I went with a synthetic blend. And even a couple of mechanics at my local Mercedes dealer told me to just get some trans fluid that was equivalent to Dexron III. They said the fluid they could sell me there wasn't anything special.
