Sprinter van with crazy high miles

My neighbor is a team leader at Penske Mercedes in Covina, CA.

Now that Penske is now selling Mercedes badged Sprinter vans, they are servicing all of the Sprinter vans in the U.S. at the dealer, even the ones badged as Dodge and Freightliner.

My neighbor was of the first techs to work on them, and by accident he's become their Sprinter van "expert", and usually works on them when they come in with problems.

He told me the other day that one came in for service from North Carolina. It was an early model with a 5 cylinder motor, and it had 767,000 miles on it!

He says the owner has a "white glove delivery service", and delivers parts from coast to coast in the van.

The van needed just a service and ran great, he says.

After about eight years at the dealer, that is the highest mileage vehicle he's seen come in.

Aren't the vans CDIs? There are no CDI version of the 602.

It will probably do another few 100k miles, easy work on long distance runs. Probably only used the brakes twice a day, once to stop when you get there & then when you get home.

Nah, if it's a 2005 it's the OM647, which is the five cylinder version of the OM648 found in '05-'06 E320CDI. Cars in Europe with this engine were called E270CDI, etc.
