What can I use to make a gasket?

I have a 1985 300D California car.

I had to disconnect the oil supply line to the turbo and I screwed-up the gasket. Rather than buy a $2.50 gasket and pay $7.00 for shipping, what material can I use to make the gasket myself? My guess is high-heat and oil resistant.

Just about any auto parts store will have several types of gasket material.

OK, the AutoZone had cork and some sort of vinyl.

The vinyl was specified for water pumps, other water barriers.

The cork I don't think would do well long-term with the heat of the turbo.

I guess a different auto store?

Farm supply stores also have gasket material.

It could be argued that AutoZoo customers shouldn't know that gasket material can be purchased in sheets and rolls.

My dad has used phone book covers to do this...
and .45 shells for the bolt holes.

The T03 Garrett (Air Research Turbo) is a very common Turbocharger on American Cars since way back . Napa may have a pre-cut gaslet for it.

Any, Turbo Rebuild shop should have it or even gasser Speed Shops.

For sure do not use cork. Gasket material made of paper should work.

I found this when I did an internet search; search = turbocharger parts Houston, TX

Several thicknesses of aluminum foil would work fine.
