Is all Diesel Fuel same??? which brand is better???
so far i havent test it on my diesel, i just fill it up, most of the time at Krogers(Cheap)

when i had my C36 AMG i only used Shell V-power .
i've tried all different like Exxon, Bp n other brands but the best was was Shell V-power, i could feel the power n my car was running better.
so which brand Diesel is better???

Shell has the highest cetane rating for their diesel. The rest of the vendors out there are pretty close to govt standards. In Europe the diesel is of higher quality.

Diesel is Diesel. Stay away from the red stuff. I agree shell tends to have higher quality though.

there's slight differences though. there's a winter blend (if you get cold climate which is kerosene added)

and summer blend which is just diesel afaik

Just get it from a place that has a high through put. If the truckers all go to one particular place, its a good bet that the fuel is the best around.

You people.....

It all comes through the same pipes, the only difference is the additives.

Stay away from slow pumps (clogged filters meaning the pump owner doesnt maintain well). I usually stick with truck places or wholesale even. There is a wholesaler around the corner that does retail to, full service and for cheaper than any pump around (although they are also the first to jump the price). The only downfall is you might have to wait for the truck infront of you to fill up its 15000 gals.....

Look for Fire Trucks filling up.

They will not buy bad fuel.
(And [?Somehow? State Agriculture Commissioner] they know how to "Help" a station keep it's fuel clean+ dry.)

Here in Tidewater, Virginia, the Hess stations tend to have a higher cetane rating posted vice other outlets.

Also, I recall Hess has it's own distribution system, not the common tank farm as used by others.

I remember fueling at a hess station like 6 years ago in PA.....near gettysburg. I was camping there.

We have none of those around here, we have:

Shell,
Speedway,
Mobil/Marathon,
BP,
Sams Club
Meijer,
Smaller local places

I usually use speedway due to their incentives program....usually milk about 75-80 gallons a year out of them for free.

Maybe I will try a tank from shell and see if it runs any different or affects my mpgs......there's a shell with diesel about 1 mile from me....

Clearly you do not understand much about the fuel industry. It all goes through the same pipes here in the US, all the fuel is the same. Everyone pours their fuel into the same pipelines and everyone gets it from the same pipeline at the end of the road. The *ONLY* difference is the additives and different types. Only one brand I know of guarantees their fuel and that is QuikTrip.

There are some differences in diesel fuels. Some have higher Cetane ratings than others. From what I have read, higher Cetane rated fuel should provide better mpg, but I havnt tested that myself.

The biggest concern with buying fuel is that it is clean and dry. a station that doesnt sell much fuel is one to pass on.

I wish there were more BioDiesel stations. We have B5 I think it is, next to the Pentagon. It is expensive, so I dont purchase it any more. B100/B99 is available north of Williamsburg on the water. I have thought about getting a few drums worth and pumping it into the benz at home.

The current ULSD fuel doesnt provide the lubricity that the earlier diesels need. I add a qt of ND30 to every fill in our 6.5TD.

If you really want to go crazy with your pursuit of mpg, consider adding water/methanol injection. It not only reduces intake charge temps, and adds oxygen, but is claimed to also help clean the intake and even the ring lands. I have a 2 stage system on our 6.5TD, and will be adding a similar system to my daily driver and our W210.

Keep your fuel filters clean, keep an eye on the condition of all of your fuel hoses. I have just about replaced all the hoses on the W124 300TD. Next project is to drop the tank to clean it. I am considering eliminating the EGR too. Too many projects, not enough time.
