87 300TD Door lock issues - What's wrong with the picture?

When my auto door locks were not working I went right to the vacuum pump under the rear seat. Well- the PO had completely removed it !

So I get another pump and it starts working right away and seems to turn on and off when it should. Two things:
1) what is the extra vac tube in the picture. I have no idea where it goes or connects to?
2) the drivers door works great (locks/unlocks ALL doors). The passenger and tailgate locks won't power the pump or open the other locks (they should). Any ideas??

No idea on the vac lines, no rear headrest drop in the TD so ?? Not yellow so not locks.

The rear and side doors should lock/unlock, likely the switch contact is bad, pull the large black cap in the passenger doorjamb and the connection is inside, probably disintigrated.

Vacuum pump line

Not sure what the PO was up to, but those pumps I have seen at the junk yard were designed to operate not only the door locks, but the lombar support funtion on the front seats.
The Y base is attached to the pump. One tip of the Y is attached to the yellow. The other tip of the Y feeds off to the lombar connection for the front seats. The second larger electrical connection operates in conjunction with the dial switch for the lombar feature near the female seat belt connection of the front seats.

The Orthopedic Seat option is so rare in the 124, almost non-existent. It is a different pump and not compatible (at least in the 124), could not find a used one anywhere in the country when mine went bad (~95) and had to buy a new pump.

If the car had/has orthopedic seats, you will find the air lines leading from the seat to the controller inboard of the seat (I believe 6 lines?). In that case, there would be an additional air line, and a different electrical connector IIRC.

Good catch CD!

Also AE, I notice you're using the white-topped pump. Supposedly only the black-top pump is compatible with the early cars.

good catch cdplayer!.....When it comes to these cars, You are one smart dude Jeff! I may have this non-existant option you are talking about. Is this the controller you are referring to? If so, I am super excited to have a rare option.....and super bummed I need a special non-existant pump to get it to work

If so, any idea where to get the correct pump?

What do the orthopedic seats actually do?

That's the one!

The letters indicate which zone in the seatback you're inflating, I believe that A is at the bottom and they progress up to the shoulders. The wheel is for pressure.

These controllers leak as they age, causing the pump to cycle constantly and wear out. In ~1995 I believe that I paid around $450 for a new pump. I think that I still have the original pump FWIW the nipple is broken off and it's for a '91, not sure what (if anything) else was wrong with it (been a long time).

Op I can solve all your problems... just bring that TD to me and I will deal with it. I can get it back to you in 5 years or so.

I think orthopedic seats are for old people
I bet they were nice when new though. I am an orthopedic mess myself.

Bought my '91 when I was 31, loved the heated leather orthopedic seats.

Oh great! I am 33 so I guess I am old I knew it would come sooner or later. It does seriously sound like a nice seat to have. Just drivers or pass too?
