Tranny acting odd but

Hi, had my normally reliable mech do a tranny filter and fluid change. He used something called Dex/Merc (or something like that). Car ran/shifted great, the shifts were a tad rough and clunky until fully warm, i could spin the tires if i stomped on it - kickdown worked great. I finally checked the fluid and noticed he over filled it, by a lot. I removed some fluid (it's just a tiny bit over top line) and now the car shifts silky smooth but seems to have lost some 'bite'. Unless it needs to be fully warm before it get's back to 'normal' or the previous 'crisp' shifting (I haven't been able to get a long ride in)? Even the kickdown is super sluggish...

I'm not sure there is a question in there, but wondering if the tranny needs to be fully warm to work properly - or he used wrong fluid, should I start from scratch - if so should i empty the torque converter or can i just remove and refill the tranny?

thanks, Chuck

These trannys seem to be very particular about fill levels. The most important thing is to check it when it is fully warmed up, leveled and in park. If it isn't fully warmed up, it becomes a lesson in futility trying to get an accurate fill. Also, unless the fluid is really hot, the bottom fill line has worked the best for me.
