81 300D tranny slippage getting worse- Help, please.

The 81 has been doing great all summer, as usual, and is now starting to slip, (as in, not kicking in till higher rpm's or letting off the gas even more than usual to bump up a gear). This time it seems to be a little worse than the normal change of seasons situation. I changed the fluid and filter in the spring, and have been checking the oil level (The wife says if the oil is low, the transmission doesn't shift as well.) Does anybody have a suggestion as to what might need to be addressed first? (Second, third??) Thanks!

she is right!

check the fluid again

then mess with the adjustable cable that attaches to the throttle on the passenger side of the engine. That will help with shift timing.

if adjustments can't bring all the shifts into range of eachother, it may time for a 'Superior Shift Kit'.

Look for vacuum leaks. Could be with colder weather vacuum connections/hoses are stiffer and don't seal as well.Would make for harder shifts.
Though I think the Bowdin cable should also be cheked and or adjusted.
