Turbo rebuilder

Do we have a Turbo rebuilder on the forum? Or link to the turbo rebuild kit? I checked the eby stuff which may be an option, but I thought I would check here to see if someone has ahd some good luck within the forum community.

I have a KKK turbo from an 87' 300SDL ready to be rebuilt.

I just rebuilt my turbo, I used an ebay kit. I ended up buying a few kits and had to order the compressor seal from McMaster-Carr before I had all the correct parts to rebuilt the turbo. I have not run my engine with the rebuilt turbo yet... so don't ask me to rebuild your turbo but assuming that it doesn't blow up, it was pretty easy.

The turbo I rebuilt was a Garrett t3, not that different... I'm not sure exactly how the KKK goes together, but that looks like it will work!

The things that I had a problem with in the T3 was that there were different ways to retain the thrust bearing, and thus slightly different thrust bearings. The first kit i bought was titled "300d turbo rebuild kit" that was a bumber when the parts were wrong

The compressor o-ring, or gasket, was way to large in the kit I got. I took calipers and measured the gasket surface and then ordered the seal through McMaster-Carr, the problem with that was I had to order it in a set of 25. so now I have 24 left over I'm not sure if its the same dimension on the KKK, (they look to be similar size... just looking that them) if so, I'll send you one of my extras

once you take it apart you'll see its not that complicated and you'll see what parts to need for sure.

Finally have it all apart and now that I can see the parts, I am looking for the correct kit. It has been a little difficult.

The rebuild kit is difficult to find in the USA. It is a KKK K24 type. Turbo # 5324-970-6700. rebuild kit is 5324-711-0020.

Any one know where to buy it or equivalent domestically?

Try calling Columbus Diesel Supply, 800-818-7867. That's where I bought my rebuild kit, although it was for a Garrett T3. Maybe they'll have a kit for the KKK.
