85 300SD shift boot
 

Does anyone have a source for the rubber shift boot? My local dealer says I can only get one as part of a $140 assembly. Thanks ***edit dealer called back, no such part.

not sure what SD has a boot on the shifter...

Sorry, I get easily confused. It's my 82 500 sec that I'm working on.

For the record, there is a rubber boot of sorts around the shifter on a 126. There was at least 1 part change mid year 85 which makes VIN important information. Previous PN will not fit correctly. This is at least applicable to my 85SD. Price ~$12 available here & elsewhere. Be careful when removing the old part so you don't break the plastic that holds the boot.

Thanks Junkman, I called fastlane and they also said they didn't have but when I pressed them with your message they found it. PN 126 267 0197 special order from MB, same for my SD and SEC.
Vstech ---- take a flash light and look down the shifter slot and you will see what's left of yours. As Junkman said, all 126s have them.
I tried to post a pic but when I go in manage attachments it says the pic is already loaded in post but I can't see it. Anyone know why? Pics show up OK in Tech forum.

Note the change in PN. The number above is that late 85 (I have part in my hand) and at least early 86 PN. You have to confirm whether you have the early or late chassis. I received incorrect part which is how I found out about the change. The change wasn't obvious to the vendor.

The part is supposed to be in Fri so I'll take my old boot with me to confirm.
