Wonder if your ignition switch is going bad? The 80c thing would suggest not, but now it's doing it at all temps. Go crank the car and jiggle the switch while it's running and see what happens. Just a thought. |

Hi Shoe,
Talking about the SOV, I broke the "in nipple" on mine last week ( the one on the right)and I "bypass" it connecting the flow without it, hoping it'll work, but as soon as I did this the Engine light came on and the iddle was hectic. Then the car stall. Perhaps as suggested above, this is something to do with the SOV you got? Was it new? |

This valve is NOT the way the engine is stopped by! The engine stop is achieved by the ECU putting the pump rack into 'o' fuel position. The SOV is a Safety Switch for the fuel. IF the engine should over-rev unexpectedly--and not under the control of the ECU and for more than a pre-set time--seconds prolly-- as in a 'stuck rack' in the IP, Then the fuel supply to the pump is closed off, to prevent accidents and to prevent engine destruction by over-revving.:) |

The SOV was connected.
I just bypass the fuel connection passing through it as the "nipple" was broken. The red is the "new" connection, bypassing the black circle with the blue cross. The computer knew something was wrong and put the engine light on. |
Olivier yes the sov was new. In the instance you speak of the sov not only stops fuel flow it also measures fuel temp so there are a couple reasons the cel could have come on. I am pretty sure my current issue is computer related unfortunately I cannot pull the Mercedes specific trouble codes all I can access are the generic so my ability to diagnose is severly limited. I have a good relationship with the shop I am taking it to so I may just have them pull the MB specific code and diagnose it my self I have not decided yet since my schedule is pretty busy over the next couple weeks. Thanks for the thoughts.

Shoe,
I just replaced the SOV with the one that Alastair sended me ( thank you :bounce: ) and the ELC light came up like you... After 3 start it stopped tho? Not much help but it might be your SOV after all or the connections to it? Olivier |

Well the news sucks!!! According to my indy shop I have a bad injection pump to the tune of $4000.00  installed using a reman pump. I plan to start a new post about this and what my alternatives may be.

Hi Shoe,
please let us know especially "why" was is a bad/ failed pump. Olivier |

The pump has electronics, they could be bad. No way is 4g a valid price though. You should call a proper Bosch shop and see what they say worst case would be for the electronics. I have never heard of the electronics in these failing.......

Dunno much about pump it all as its "new" to me, all readers can figure this out with my posts by now, but what I know is that I put a lot of "S*it" into mine and that its still going, they are strong. How would yours be gone?
Again, look at the tank strainer( mine was filtthy) the pre-filter, the filter. Those are important. Olivier |
I would bet good money its a mis diagnosis and its the EDS. I think you should take it to the dealer for diagnosis unless your indy has all the proper testing equipment.
