W124 602 New Timing chain - Timing Marks ?

Hello,

I just replaced the timing chain on my 91 602 W124

The Camshaft is aligned with its marks when the crankshaft is at 5 deg BTDC

Is this acceptable for a new timing chain ?

Thankyou

I am just identifying the marks so we're on the same page.

1) mark on 1st camshaft holder

2) mark on camshaft casting directly behind the sprocket.

First, align the crank so it is on the "OT" mark after turning the crank 2 rotations.

Then, how are the marks aligned? ---there is a lot of inaccuracy with those marks and how you look at them. Try viewing them through the front of the sprocket.

---------------------------

and, no, that measurement is not acceptable.

Thank you...

Well I double checked the marks and as it so happens I was not sighting the cam marks straight on... so all is well ... the marks are OT crank and cam ligned up with its mark

A Real relief to say the least

thanks again
