Power Antenna Noise
My son has a 1984 300D (123). The power antenna has developed a noise when it hits maximum travel and when it goes completely down. I know this particular antenna uses a timed motor operation rather than limit switches like th antenna on my older 300SDs. The antenna goes up all the way and retracts all the way. While it is travelling, its operation is smooth.
Is this noise I'm hearing simply the limit clutch slipping and it's gotten noisy in its old age? Is it anything to worry about?

I had a 83 300SD that did the same thing, the gear that pushes and pulls on the toothed nylon piece had worn material off the teeth at the top and the bottom. The gear would slip on the nylon when almost fully retracted or raised and the motor did not know when to stop. I had to buy a whole new unit. Now I see parts to replace just the mast and the nylon drive piece.
