Can I grab a gasser 124 climate control box?

So diesel 124s seem to never show up at my JY. And my climate control is wonky. Any reason I can't just grab one from a 260e or something?

Nope. Go right ahead. If it's the same chassis... the engine has nothing to do.

They have a different part number, but I have used gas ones on my diesel 124s with no issues.

My '87 300D Turbo (W124, OM603) has had a PBU from a '92 300E since January 2009. The only differences I have been able to observe are (1) the later unit has a Fahrenheit temperature dial and (2) the later unit seems to respond a little faster to dial changes and cabin temperature changes. Both are Bosch-made PBUs.

I'd avoid the Bosch ones, given a choice, as the recall specified the Bosch ones as the ones to be replaced / failing.
