Went to my local junk yard a few days ago

I was excited when I got there, they told me they had a "new" junker in..."blue, one back in on the right side"
Well off to see what "new" goodies I could find...only an hour left before they close, need to hurry if I am to find anything. Well long story short..could not find the car.
I am on my way out and the gatekeeper tells me "oh someone just told me they crushed that one, we only had it 3 days" WHAT????
FULL OF SNAKES

Doesn`t that just frost your biskits?

You almost have to check the yards daily to stay on top of them.

I drove 3 hrs to sacramento today, to pull a rear end I saw last Tues. a 3:58. couldn`t find the car, guess they crushed it.

But then several rows over, there was another Euro 230E with the same Diff and a 150mph spedo with a tach and a vac economy gauge at the bottom of the tri gauge.
This car wasn`t there on Tuesday.

Looks like you have a lot of cars to pick from Charlie....I thought I was lucky finding 2...they have not gotten any more in that I am aware of. I gave them my phone number in case they get any more in, hopefully they will call..

In that sacramento yard, must have been 20. oldest was a 70 something W114/115. think a 250.

2 SL`s one with a bad front end fire and a Petrol green that was hit hard in the rear and shoved into another. something went in over the bumper and shoved the sheetmetal all the way into the rear seat some.

several 190E, 2 SD and several 126 gassers.

A couple 240`s. one with a nice body, interior mostly gone along with the eng/trans. was an automatic, and the trans X mount was there for the picking on the floor . those are good for a 4 spd swap.
It also had what looked like 4 good new door actuators, YES. good to have spares of those, and someone already removed the door panels.

Saw another 240 auto and was going to remove the trans mount, and was different, what the.... someone swapped in a 617 turbo. this was in a 77. Interesting how they hooked the GP relay set up. on the firewall is a small brown plastic box, they ran a 8 or 10 gage wire to the left fender where the GP relay in on say a 82 to 85 123. connected all 5 GP wires to it. they used what looked like an air cleaner mount. bolted one to the fender and connected the wires to the other end. all with bare ends.

there was an 82 SD that some one replaced the eng with one from a W116, 78 or 79 w/o the EGR on the manifolds. someone removed the turbo for me, so removing the manifolds was the easiest I have ever done. 7 nuts .

I never did the Diff I originally went after. I read reciently where it was said they, remove the DL, axle hub bolts, drive the axles in out of the hubs, remove the 4 nuts holding the diff, and drop the assembly.
I got the right axle out of the splines, but the left side was just right there, but wouldn`t clear the splines. think that put a bind on the Diff studs, and wouldn`t let it drop down . thing ate my lunch yesteday, Iam soooo sore today from jerking, pulling and prying.
if it wasn`t so far back to the yard (3 hr) I would just remove the 3 sub frame bolts on each side and drop the whole thing. can`t have a jack in the yard..

removing those Homo axles is always a PITA for me.

I saw a sad thing. there is a Chevy Malibu in a caged off area, with Bio hazard on it. It was "T" boned in the pass side. the whole side was shoved into the drivers seat area . the rocker was about 2 feet in. probably hit about 100mph. so much for being built like a Rock.

Some of the yards here let you drive a truck loaded with tools into the yard. Gotta be careful & make sure some dip **** doesn't start pulling your head.

I would assume human fluids and parts are scattered all over the interior.
