1982 300sd : 617 eng : turbo diesel: 350k

Recently I removed the Alda system from the car. It now has more pre boost acceleration as I've read about. Thinking about returning the alda back into the mix tho, and trying to adjust the system for more power.

I also did a diesel purge and I've been using 911 anti gel and a Lubro molly diesel additive.

Last week the exhaust began smoking quite a bit after accelerating from traffic stops and during hard shifts. It was much more noticable than is usual. Previosly I only had little puffs now and again when acclerating from traffic stops and maybe at times when climbing hills.

I recently began driving the 617 daily because my gasser needs work. With all the smoking bothering me, I put the car in the driveway for a few days and drove a friends car. I put her back into service yesterday and the smoking is noticably improved. Only a bit when accelerating from stops. More than I'm used to seeing but not big dark clouds like I was seeing.

The problem seems to have resolved it self.

Could my recent purges and additives have loosened a bunch of crude and the system just needed time to clean itself and dissolve some muck??

I'm considering replacing the nozzles in the injectors because I think they are in need of replacing and I'm hoping to gain a performance increase from the upgrade.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience after a diesel purge and whether or not those diesel additives are recommended?

Thanks
Theo
