Probable cause?

Good afternoon.
What would be the probable cause of windshield wipers stopping as soon as you turn them off?
Thanks
Big Dan

You mean they don't park?

I have never worked on MB wipers but I am betting it is in the motor assy.

Isn't there a relay?

If the wipers function, but act retarded... its more likely the brain, right?

Yes it might be the relay.
Isn't there a park switch of some sort for the wipers?

I would like to help, but it's kind of necessary for me to know what model you're talking about.

Dan,
Wipers may be an issue for you given the amount of rain you have been getting up there!!
I believe there is a switch in the wiper gearbox that provides power to the wiper motor until it gets to the park position. Either it is bad or you are not getting power to that switch.
Good luck !!

There may be a cam switch that is staying open in the motor assembly or a defective relay if it drives it. When you turn the wipers off power remains to the motor until that switch opens at the parking position designed on the cam or equivelant.

Well this is the most common, cheapest to engineer and manufacture for any car maker and has existed since the advent of parking wipers.

Some people land up playing the game of turning off the wipers exactly at the bottom of the sweep. May improve your hand eye coordination.

I have had a couple over the years. You can play with this or fix it. Totally non working wipers do not enjoy this owner option..
