Gas to Diesel Conversion

I would like to swap a 560 sec engine with a 617 turbo diesel engine, what would have to be done for this to work. would i need to get a 617 engine from a 300td because of the sls or could i just use a 617 from a 300 sd?

Best you have the donor car & yours side by side when you do it. There will be lots of little things other than the motor/trans that need swapping, eg the ignition switch (vac).

That would be a lot of work, and the diff ratio in the 560 is at least 247 maybe taller. various incompatibilities, but if you had an early 126 617 donor you might do fairly well.

Do a search for forum member ICEFIRE, he has done this swap before. he has several threads on his project.

I will be doing this swap this winter. I'll try and document all the little hurdles I run into. Although I am horrible with documentation(ask my employers). So far I have the main bits:SEC, Diesel drivetrain. My daily is a 300sd so i have a good template. And my buddy owns a junkyard with a couple SD's I can get about anything off of. I may start a thread once I really get into it.
