SLS Valve Lever Arm unscrewed itself and threaded rod is missing
Last week I noticed that my sls was not functioning on my 85 wagon. I just had a chance to crawl under this afternoon and noticed that the SLS Valve Lever Arm unscrewed itself and threaded rod is missing. Both cast pivot ends are there but the rod is gone The part was under a year old...rats. I tried to find a threaded rod to replace the item but it seems to be reversed threads No luck at Lowes or Discount Auto for a screw/bolt to cut down or threaded rod of any sort in the reverse thread I need.
Has anyone fabbed a replacement? Someone on the board mentioned plumbing strap. Pictures would be priceless I may order another new one but I'd like to what others have fabbed. Thanks |

If the 123 and 124 rod is the same, I may still have my old one. I replaced it over a year ago, but I typically hold on to my old parts if they are serviceable. If it is the same you can have it for shipping ($5.00). I'll see if I can find it this afternoon.

Junk yard or forum member "above" would be best . My end sockets fell apart so I got them new at the dealer last week (could not find them online). Each end was $15!!. One was left-hand thread the other right-hand thread. I will re-use my center section. They were selling the whole rod for $50 I think. If all else fails the dealer may have just the center part.

After about 5 hours of searching for parts to use I finally found my old lever arm with the worn out bushings I just reused the old threaded rod. All is good for now.
I'd still like to see if anyone has fabbed up a cheap replacement or temporary part. Like they "necessity is the mother of invention". I was about to use a length of perforated mounting strap that was from a replacement power antenna. Lots of evenly spaced holes and it seemed to be pretty stout. |
