Took a 2006 CDI for a test drive

So, I took at 2006 for a test drive today and I was not all that impressed with the car. I used to own a w210 and would prefer the w210 over the w211. It just did not have the feel of a Mercedes to me. The car did drive fine and was powerful for a diesel, but i just did not feel it. I felt much more comfortable in a w210 or even a w126.

How's that??

The W211 is more roomy in the inside cabin, in the trunk (boot) a helluva lot more leg and hip room for the driver, AND much, much more powerful engine, and last but not least gets a helluva lot better fuel mileage.

You are going to have to fill-in the blanks, to be believable here. I test drove a W211 CDI when they first appeared, so I know what I am talking about there - plus I have oened a W210 300 ETD since new, for over 120K miles - so you are going to have to sell me on your dour "test drive," in all frankness.....?

What are driving right now?

Now I am driving an 85 300D. Maybe it is just that I expected much more. I used to have a w210 and loved the car. I just had a very solid feel in the w210, but today with the w211 it was not so. I took the car on the highway and it does jump when you step on it. It really is fast, but I just did not feel like it was worth the money. I feel like the w210 is much more enjoyable to drive. It could just be that I expected much more.

I am looking to buy a new car. I wanted to buy a CDI because it is cheaper than the bluetec and I could afford a cdi, but after driving it i think i will go drive the w210 again, and see how they compare.

it depends. I would have to finance the cdi. The w21 I could pay cash depending on price. I just noticed that you are selling yours. how many miles and how much.

What do you have to spend on one? Mine has 122K miles.....

For a one-owner, garaged since new in Dallas, Texas.......you could do a lot worse than buying my '99 300 ETD W210. Considering ALL the 100K miles maintenance AND major parts R & R has been completed at a cost of $5K +/- It's a literal friggin' bargain....!

Oh come on. Just give him an asking price. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. If his amount to spend is more than you had in mind for the asking price, then he just got royally shafted. Where as if you just say a price or link to a listing he can decide whether he wants to act upon it. Just my opinion though.

Honestly reminds me of this. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-ce-d-cd-td/1522120-sale-custom-1980-w123-230-ford.html
